Best Crafts of 2013

Hello 2014! Before I begin another year of blogging-- let's take a look back at what happened here in 2013.

To start, it was the 'biggest' year of blogging for Crafty Texas Girls. I wrote more, made more crafts, met more bloggers and even traveled!  To recap the year, I looked back at the 176 posts I wrote over 2013 and chose the very best ones to share here.  Enjoy!

In January we moved my three year old from a crib to a big girl bed. The headboard was a great thrifty find. Don't you just love those! See all the details in her sweet blue room {HERE}.

I also re-organized my craft room! With my hair accessory line at Market and a ton of orders to process, I needed a more organized work space. I purchased storage units from Container Store for my fabric and revamped my ribbon organizer. See more of my organized craft room {HERE}.

February was full of traveling. We took the girls to a Mardi Gras Parade {HERE} in Sherevport and then Disney World {Tips for the trip HERE}. I also worked on updating our home decor with some fun new accessories from Home Goods. It always feels good to refresh your home in the New Year.

In March, I attended my first Blog Conference! I didn't have to travel far, the Blissdom Conference was held at the Gaylord Grapevine. I met so many great women- it was definitely worth it! Read all about the conference {HERE} I also made a ton of Easter crafts {HERE} :)

I also sold a huge order to CWD Kids catalog! It was so exciting to see my clothing line included in their spring catalog. I also showed my winter collection at the Dallas Market.

In April, we celebrated my oldest daughter turning seven with a 'craft birthday party' {HERE}.  And we also started re-decorating the backyard {HERE}, the first project was this tin accent wall {HERE}. I had lots of questions about how it would survive the weather. Since it is galvanized tin, the look of the tin has not changed a bit since the day we hung it! I also painted the front of my kitchen drawers with chalk paint- such an easy update see it {HERE}

In May, we found an old pallet and I made my first piece of 'pallet art'-- of course it was Texas sized! {HERE}. We visited an awesome reclaimed wood yard and found old barn wood to use for our porch ceiling {HERE}.

In June, I got my first taste of 'mason work' by adding stones to our outdoor fireplace {HERE}. My sweet husband also painted our outdoor patio furniture {HERE} the most beautiful shade of turquoise blue and my outdoor chandelier from Pottery Barn was hung {HERE}.  And I launched my summer designs at local markets and on Etsy {HERE}

In July, I tried to take a break from blogging :) but I couldn't stay away! I shared my Sydney Pinafore {HERE} . I reorganized our craft/art closet with mason jars {HERE}. It is a simple was to get things in order.

In August, I got an early jump on decorating my mantle for fall {HERE}. I made a few fun circle skirts for school {HERE}. And then I created this 'Beautiful Mess' notebook {HERE} for our first MOPS craft of the year.

In September, my hubby hung a flat screen tv on our back porch and our patio was complete! {HERE}. I went on my first blogging business trip-- New York with Miele {HERE}. And I made shared this simple tutorial for the twine and pearl bracelet {HERE}

In October, we celebrated Maisy's fourth birthday with a Merida Party {HERE}. I shared our Halloween decorations- both inside and out {HERE}. And I made both the girls costumes, a Katy Perry costume {HERE} and a Minion costume {HERE}

In December, I made a glitter "Be Good For Goodness Sake" sign {HERE}. I knocked-off a West Elm plate to create our own 'cookies for santa' plate {HERE}. And I made 'handprint reindeer aprons' for Maisy's preschool class {HERE}

I hope you enjoyed my 'highlights of 2013. You can browse through all 176 posts from 2013 by clicking on the sidebar {HERE} or going through the tutorials page {HERE}

Looking back made me more excited about what is to come in 2014. I feel energized and inspired. I think everyone should take a moment to look back at the past before moving forward this year. Whether you blog or not, make a list of the past 12 months and jot down something you or your family did in each month. Big or small, seeing what you did and enjoyed doing is so satisfying. It can help you determine what you want to focus on in 2014 too!
