Chandelier MakeOver for $35 (No Painting Required)

I have a thing for chandeliers. They are like jewelry for your home and can completely change the look of any room. We added a beautifully sparkly one to our sitting area a few years ago (click here to see it). But our dinning room was in need of a 'lighting update'. Those little updates can sometimes cost big $$. So I am excited to say this one was done for only $35!

This light fixture is a nice piece, but I wanted a different look.

So my husband removed the bottom light and capped off the wires.

Then we replaced the frosted shades for these crackle glass vanity shades. Mine are from Lowes and cost $6 each.  I couldn't find them online, but here is something similar from Home Depot.

Five new lightbulbs later and we have a 'new' chandelier!

I love the new look during the day and at night. In the dark, the crackle glass adds sparkle to the room.

It makes the space feel different to me- and that was the change I needed. And since the price was so nice, I have more money in my decor budget for other projects :)

Do you have a fixture that can use a 'make-over'?
