How to Make Bunting-(the Crafty way)

Lots of fun projects for Maisy's birthday party. Here is one of my favorites- the bunting.

I love how simple and inexpensive this project is to complete. It is sweet, vintage and looks like fabric!

I bought 10 sheets of coordinate 12x12 scrapbook paper.

Then I folded each sheet in half and using a triangle pattern (I made this one quickly just for this project). I traced 10 triangles.

Next I cut them out using my paper pinking-shears.

Oh and when you cut out the triangles, you get a bonus triangle from the middle! This one does not have a flap, but you can still hang it :)

Then I printed out the letters of Maisy's name on cardstock. I used "American Typewriter" font and chose "outline" under my formatting options. That way I would have a line to cut around. The font size is 130.

Finally hang the triangles over your line and tape the backs.

I used the bunting on the fireplace for her name. And then I used it to display 12 months of her photos.

I stuck the rest wherever I was needing some sweet decor.
Pretty cute huh?

Tutu Dresses!

So excited! I finally got to make my Afton a beautiful tutu dress. She wore it for the annual Grapevine Flutterby Parade.

I made little Maisy a Halloween tutu and baby legs- and then added some butterflies to her headband. I wanted her to be able to wear her outfit for a few Halloween parties too!
Her tutu is a bit different than others I have made in the past, I added marabou feathers and glitter tulle. I am so happy with how full and fancy it turned out!
Now that I have made the tutu dress- I plan on making more. My sister-in-law had me make this pumpkin tutu dress for her daughter who is about Maisy's age. The dress will fit just like Afton's and I even made a little headpiece to go with it. (Please excuse the photo quality :) needs to be on the baby to do this dress justice!)

I am also in the middle of making a Tinker Bell costume/tutu dress for a friend of Afton's. Stay tuned for that photo- it is going to be so cute!

Tutu dresses are now available for order- send me an email and I will custom make one for you.

Have a great weekend!

Vintage Cowgirl Party

My sweet Maisy Lou turned one! So to celebrate we had a "Vintage Cowgirl" party. Lots of pink, blues, shabby chic, and cowboy boots!

I made party circles for the cupcakes and food labels by using the 'shape' tool on Word. Then I cut them out using a scalloped round punch that I found in the scrapbooking section at Hobby Lobby.

These are Jeff's boots from when he was little. I filled them with spray roses.
Table cloths are made from burlap- JoAnn's (with the coupon of course!)

For decorations, I made lots of bunting with scrapbook paper. (I'll post the exact how-to) later this week.
Photos of Maisy- birth thru 12 months

I also made these tissue paper decorations. These were easy and inexpensive. I bought tissue paper packs from Hobby Lobby for $1 each. Each ball takes 8 sheets of tissue paper. Here are Martha Stewart's directions.

We served bbq to go with the 'cowgirl' theme. Jeff loves to cook for a crowd!

The kiddos played outside the whole time. I also set up a coloring table with horses to decorate. After lunch they got to hit the pink pinata. Candy was collected in little bags labeled 'cowgirl chow'- these served as party favors as well.

I made white cupcakes with pink cream cheese icing and Bakerella's cowgirl cookies for dessert. Maisy loved her cupcake!

We had a lot of fun- and Maisy felt very loved!
