Craft It: Glitter Reindeer Art with Tulip Shimmer Sheets

Adding Some Color and Shimmer to the Holidays
This Christmas I am changing it up a bit. After two years of white and neutrals for my Holiday decor, I am ready for some color. So after purchasing some red chevron fabric online and then getting an amazing box full of glittery supplies from Tulip Shimmer, I was ready to create my first Christmas craft of the season.
For those of you who have been following this blog, you know how I feel about Chevron. LOVE! So you can imagine my excitement when I was able to pair my new red chevron with these beautiful Shimmer Sheets from Tulip. It didn't take me long to decide that I wanted to use the Shimmer Sheets to make my own DIY Glitter Reindeer Art.

My favorite things about these new Tulip Shimmer Sheets are:
1. No mess glitter! You can create beautiful glittered crafts without getting glitter all over your house.
2. No fancy 'cutters' or machines required. Although the Tulip Shimmer Sheets are easily used with those cutters, you don't need one! So if you are like me and don't own a cutter-- all you need are your scissors!

DIY Christmas Card Photos

Christmas Card Season is Here
I love, absolutely love, Christmas cards. Each year I get excited when December rolls around and my mail box is full of cards from friends and family. Last year I was really on the ball-- my friend Erin from Splendor Photography happened to be in Florida at the same time we were. So she photographed us on the beach. I had my Christmas cards completely done by the end of August!

Source
Somehow, this year, we didn't get around to scheduling a family photo shoot. I don't know where the time went. But I feel like I looked up from my hot glue gun and BAM-- the holiday season was here.
With no fancy professional pics and no photo shoots scheduled, I decided to try my own version of  "DIY Christmas Card Photos" this year.  I will preface this mini-tutorial by saying, I am in no way a pro and I absolutely love working with real photographers like Kristie Mills and others who are trained in their craft. But sometimes a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do-- and this year that meant taking my own photos. Here is how I did it!

9 Kid Friendly Thanksgiving Recipes

Each year for Thanksgiving, my daughters make these  little pilgrim hat cookies. They are easy, cute, and yummy. So this year, I went on a quest to find a few more recipes like this. Ones that are not only fun to look at, but also easy for kids to make. (If you have ever attempted those oreo turkeys, you know what I am talking about!)

There will still be plenty of pumpkin pies and fancy desserts on our Thanksgiving table. My girls even helped me make a few apple pies last year. Although that recipe definitely required some adult supervision!

But I think having a few 'kid made' items is a good way to involve the little ones in meal preparation and it keeps their hands busy. For me of course, truely 'kid made' means that they really can make it themselves with minimal parental help. So depending on the age of your kiddos, I have collected a group of recipes that are 'kid friendly'.

Gallery Wall and a Holiday Guide

I have always wanted a gallery wall on our staircase. My favorite decorating magazines have made them look so appealing.

So one day I stopped wishing. I looked at my calendar and realized that with the upcoming Holidays, I was going to have a lot of 'company' in my home. Nothing like the impending arrival of family and friends to get motivated right?! I jumped online and ordered a bunch of black and white photos from Mpix.com and then I drove on over to Hobby Lobby.

It was a good week for this project-- if you watch the sales you can score free shipping or discounts from online printing. And then you can either catch the revolving sales cycle at Hobby Lobby or use the good old 40% coupon. (Which you can pull up on your phone while you are in the check-out line!)
