So with that said, come on in! Our red door was recently transformed with some glossy black paint. I am obsessed with all things black and white these days.

Just outside the laundry room is our garage. Besides a place to house our car, it also serves as a 'man cave' and a 'keeping area' for the girls backpacks and shoes. I love a room that pulls its weight!
And of course, we spend a lot of time in the kitchen too. Although I don't love cooking, I am lucky to be blessed with a husband that does. But don't worry- I can make a mean batch of chocolate chip cookies in that big oven!
We decided to use our breakfast nook as a sitting area- complete with a cozy fur rug, wing back chairs and a sparkly chandelier. Since our open floor plan has the spaces so close together, it just didn't make any sense to me to have both a kitchen table and dining room table. The girls love reading and playing in this area while I bake. And it is the perfect spot for the Sunday paper and a cup of coffee.
Our guest bathroom is just off the breakfast nook. It is our most recent renovation. It had been a victim of 'diy old world texture'. But with the help of my husband, a contractor, and some careful shopping- it is now a space that I am proud of.
My husband's office is also downstairs. And since he works from home, the room gets used a lot. Happily, he let me get crafty with his office- painted curtains! I like his office because it houses a lot of personal memories in the form of art work. It was fun to incorporate these pieces in a masculine room that still fits in with the style of our home.
In our entry way, I converted an old dresser into a sideboard table. It holds linens and makes a great place for personal decor items and seasonal decor. The dresser was a thrifty/antique find. I searched a long time for it- so to me it represents the idea of 'not settling for a quick fix' when it comes to decor.
Due to the hot Texas weather, we spend a lot of time in our pool and lounging around the backyard. It is like having an extra living area. Even when it's hot, we can sit in the pool all afternoon. I am glad my husband likes to garden- because I never inherited my mom's green thumb!
Our pool has a great 'before/after' story. Click here to read about the renovations that made our pool look like 'new' again.
We recently had the carpet removed from our stair case and had hard woods put in. It took several years to make this decision! But I am SO happy with the new look of our stairs.
Upstairs is our playroom/family room. I spent several days hand-stenciling the wall. It is great to have a room that can hold our girls toys but also be enjoyed everyone in the family. I think it is important that it also has some style! Most of the furniture in this room, was 'upcycled'. For example, the tv console used to be my daughter's changing table. I love my sweet girls' silhouettes. I don't know if I will ever be able to take them down- even when they turn into crazy teenagers. They will forever be frozen in my mind at this age.
And I have my own room up here too- my crafty room. It usually doesn't look this neat :) I spend naptime in here, sewing, hot glueing and sometimes even painting a bit. I refinished an old school desk that now sits in the corner. I love having my girls around to keep me company :)

Thanks! The couch was purchased almost 5 years ago at furniture store in New Orleans. But the manufacturer is "Alan White" from Mississippi. You might be able to google is and find one near you! :) Samantha

A job well done with the interiors ladies. I enjoyed viewing the intricate and exquisite plotting and implementation of the design concept. It came out stunning.

Thanks for the kind words!

You did well in renovating the living room. A brighter living room is advisable because that is the place where people gather.

Can you talk about the ceiling in your craft room? It looks wonderful!

Hi Sandy- the ceiling was done before I moved in, our previous owners get the credit for that project! But from what I can tell, they simply nailed 'tin tiles' to the ceiling. I love the look, seems fairly simple to do and it adds a lot of interest to the room. I have seen similar 'tin tiles' at Lowes and Home Depot.

Oh.Em.Gee, your house is BEAUTIFUL!!!
@Lindsay-- you are so sweet! It has been a work in process. I think I actually started 'decorating' it about 4 years ago! Wow, that sounds like a really long project now that I think about it. Yikes! :) Samantha
Your house is amazing -- can you come and help me with mine? You have such good taste and everything looks like it belongs in the middle of a Pinterest board or magazine spread! Can't wait to look at all your ideas!
