the party with a cowgirl can-do  spirit!

1 Party, 4 Blogs

Hey everyone!  This is Amanda over at The Ivy Cottage Blog!  I recently took a little vacation to Austin, TX and enjoyed some evenings of sunsets, good friends, great margaritas, and starry nights.  It was so nice to spend some time with my hubby and just relax.  Needless to say, this week's features are inspired by vacation, relaxation, and good times.

Check out Betsy's recent makeover at her heighbor's house.  Love the beachy feel and the unusual color palette!

Follow along with Cherise as she creates her "Favorite Things" Quilt!  Stunning!

A little Cowgirl dreaming inspiration from Angie over at Swede Dreamer!

Hour by Hour

Time is such a tricky thing. Sometimes it seems like the minutes drag on forever, at a snail's pace. And then other moments pass through my fingers like sand. I scarcely hold onto the moment, before it slips away.

So last Thursday I did a little experiment. Inspired by a post on "Jones Design Company", I decided to track my time through pictures.  I took a photo every hour for one entire day.

Hour by Hour:
6:30am- Alarm at 6am. Showered quickly and made coffee. Lunches and breakfasts assembled.
7:30am- Dropped off Afton at school while Maisy was at home with Jeff.
8:30am- Cleaned bathrooms and kitchen. Then dusted.
9:30am- Maisy had been playing Barbies so nicely while I cleaned. Now it was my turn to join in.
10:30am- Went to 'Open Play' at the Grapevine Rec Center. Maisy loves it.
11:30am- Ran to the Post Office on the way home.
12:30pm- Lunch on the patio with Maisy. Then we sat by the pool and watched a caterpillar.
1:30pm- Maisy napped. I completed Etsy orders and made something for me- Chevron headband!
2:30pm-Wake Maisy from nap so we can pick-up Afton from school.
3:30pm- Homework time- reading and spelling practice.
4:30pm- Soccer practice for Afton. Maisy and I watch/play from the sidelines.
5:30pm- Driving home.
6:30pm- Decided to do dinner out- no one feels like cooking tonight.
7:30pm- Should be getting girls ready for bed, but we play outside and eat popsicles instead.
8:30pm- Girls are now asleep, so I work on my blog, answer comments, and emails.
9:30pm- Cut and sort labels for 'Samantha Conner Designs'- while watching tv with Jeff.
10:30pm- Eat a big bowl of Butterfinger Blast ice cream, I am running 12 miles in the morning:)
11:00pm- Bed time!

It was pretty interesting to see an entire day summed up in photos. I realized I spend a lot of my time with my little family, which made me happy. And I also saw that I spend a lot of time in the car!

How would your day look? Even if you don't blog, give it a try. You might be surprised where your time is going.

** Don't forget to come back later for "Cowgirl Up"- can't wait to see what YOU have been doing!

A Bit Obsessed with Weddings

It's that time of year again, Wedding season. I love it!

Last year, both my little sister and Jeff's little sister got married. One in June.

And one in December. They were both beautiful.

Now that all of our siblings are happily married, I am finding new ways to get my wedding fix:) I have had the joy of making some custom pieces for flower girls and brides through my Etsy shop.

Can't you just imagine these accessories in the bride's pretty wedding hair...

And then of course, there is Pinterest. I'm not even planning a wedding, but I can't help but 'ooh and ahh' (and pin) some of these photos.  I just adore that the new "Vintage-DIY" trend in weddings. So many thoughtful details make the day feel even more personal.

What about you? Do you love weddings too? Are you going to any this season?

Cowgirl Up #12

Welcome to Week 12 of
 Cowgirl Up! Link Party . . .
the party with a cowgirl can-do  spirit!
1 Party, 4 Blogs

Howdy-doo! It's Farmhouse Porch today, and my featured links from this week's "Cowgirl Up!" linky party! I read through every link this week and found tons of great inspiration...too much. I had to narrow it down. Out of my personal favorites I ended up choosing the bloggers with a link back to the our party.

It's important to link back ya'll! There were more than a few blogs I reeeaaallly wanted to feature but they didn't link back to the party. When you link back, you send traffic to the party. This is good for us and good for you! Think about it, if everyone else is linking back they are sending traffic your way. Be a sweetie and do it for them too.♥

Now give me a hug. I still love you punkin'! If you are new to blogging (as I still feel I am most of the time) don't hesitate to ask for help linking up.

Spring is here! That means fresh vibrant florals and light, airy interiors. A Sort Of Fairy tale reveals a downstairs makeover that inspires me to add some spring to my decor...

Here we have this "Made to look Old" bucket label DIY by Janet at The Decorating Diaries. Didn't she dress it up and stage it beautifully?

If you haven't checked out the $200 kitchen and dining room makeovers over at The Vintage Farmhouse here's your chance.

A fresh coat of white paint and a chandelier never looked so chic!

And speaking of fresh white paint...this china hutch by Fresh Vanilla for C is sparkling in a room of powder blues and crisp whites...

White painted furniture is so classic to me. You can take something dark and heavy and with white paint, make it as light as a cloud. Like this sideboard by Knick of Time Interiors

I would be giddy to receive a handmade party invite with a wax seal, like Cinderella opening an invitation to a royal ball! Here's a neat one by The Brilliant Crafty Type

If you love before and afters, check out this cool ottoman makeover at Leone Design

We thank EVERYONE who takes the time to join our party. Now link up below and show us your latest and greatest creations!

Making a 'Case' for my Stairs

I feel like I have seen so many stairs on Pinterest lately.

Our own stair case has been a point of debate. The previous owners had it carpeted and they also had several indoor dogs. So you can imagine what time and pets do to stairs.
We have had them cleaned so many times, but nothing seemed to help.

My husband wanted to re-carpet them, but I have been wanting hard woods.
So for several years we have had lots of conversation about what to do.

Finally we came to an agreement....the stairs got a make-over :)  The entire project took only 4 days. We found a local company that specializes in stairs.
They ripped up the carpet, laid hard wood, and finished up with paint and stain.

I love them!

Definitely worth the wait.

What about you? Have you ever had to make 'case' for the decor in your home??

-You can find more "Stair" and "Decor Inspiration" on my Pinterest boards!

"Sweet as Pie" Baby Sprinkle

Is there anything more fun than welcoming a new baby? And in our family, we have lots of babies on the way! Two weeks ago, we hosted a Little Man shower to celebrate the upcoming arrival for my sister's baby boy. And then last weekend, we opened our home for a little 'sprinkle' to honor my sister-in-law Jenn as she is expecting her second daughter.

A sprinkle is a sweet way to celebrate a second or third baby. It is a smaller version of a 'shower'-- it's just a little 'sprinkle'! And this sprinkle was especially sweet because I co-hosted it with my creative sister-in-law Jessie. Jessie is a certified foodie--this girl can cook! And happily, she shares my love of Pinterest and party planning :)  Jessie was truly the hostess with the mostess for this event!

I embellished a simple Gerber onesie with silk flowers and lace, then added a handmade tutu for door decor. A white parasol and 'rain drops' hung just above the entry way.

The party theme came from these adorable party favors that Jessie baked. "This baby will be sweet as pie". Each mini-mason jar contained a delicious mixed berry pie.

Pretty drinks...sparkling pink lemonade and pink champagne.

The menu consisted of Pizzettes with Caramelized Onions, Goat Cheese, and Prosciutto; Cucumber Cups with Roasted Red Pepper Hummus; and Pear & Brie Sandwiches with Walnuts and Arugula.

And lots of sweets too! Macaroons, powdered donuts with edible hydrangeas, and dark chocolate cupcakes.

The centerpiece of the table was a beautiful 4-tiered pastel layered cake, baked by my talented mother-in-law Debbie.

I hung the infamous 'coffee filter' wreath back up on the fireplace. Coordinating paper bunting and personalized onesies adorned the mantle.

Jenn was so thrilled with the shower. And we are so excited to welcome another sweet girl to the family. Jessie-I loved hosting the sprinkle with you!!

Jessie, Debbie, Jenn along with 'big sister to be' Analeigh and 'proud cousin' Afton :)

-Special Thanks to "Hostess with the Mostess" , her "Spring Baby Shower" is full of fabulous ideas.
-All the paper elements of this party are available at Paige's of Style on Etsy.
-The 'raindrop's are actually plastic Christmas ornaments! You can find similar ones here.
-When making the cake, don't forget to gently cut of the sides of the baked cake to reveal the color.
