Make A Newspaper Hat for Earth Day
Our elementary school has lots of fun traditions. One of our favorite, is the annual "Earth Day Hat Contest". During the Week of Earth Day, kids are invited to make a hat at home using recycled materials. Then they wear it to school and two winners (one boy and one girl) are chosen for each class. The assignment gets kids to 'think outside the box' and use lots of creativity.

Crawfish Dessert
It's Crawfish season again! And once again, I refuse to eat them. But that doesn't mean I don't like a good crawfish boil. Whenever we go to one, I like to make my 'famous crawfish cakes'. They are the perfect dessert for any festive crawfish boil.

DIY Poodle Skirt
My mom made me a poodle skirt when I was in middle school. I remember feeling so proud that she took the time to sew it for me. I loved that skirt.
So when a friend invited my girls to her party and mentioned that they "could" wear a poodle skirt, if they had one---well I knew it was time to continue the poodle skirt tradition.

How to Celebrate Your Anniversary
My husband I recently said "Cheers to 13 years" of marriage. And for some reason, the number 13 sounded really, really big to me. A lot has happened in 13 years, but I don't feel 13 years older. I feel like we just got married! To celebrate we took a long weekend to Cancun, Mexico and stayed at our favorite Marriott resort.

DIY Sunshine Bucket
My daughter's little friend recently broke her elbow during team practice. She is the sweetest friend- so we decided to cheer her up with a "Bucket Full of Sunshine".
A few moms pitched in money, and I went shopping at "Five Below". And what tween girl doesn't love a bucket of goodies from "Five Below"??? I tried to stick with the 'yellow' theme, like the sun.

Salad Bar Teacher Luncheon
Our Hospitality Committee has been hard at work! Last week we hosted a luncheon for the teachers at our school. I decided to go with the "Hello Sunshine" theme since our staff makes every day at school sunny :) And because every teacher loves a good salad, we set up a yummy salad bar too!
I found my inspiration for the Salad Bar idea at Sara Robbins.com. Her salad bar is a lot more fancy than ours, but the results are the same. A yummy DIY salad. I like this idea for school luncheons, showers, or a family dinner. You can vary the ingredients based on your guests. Vegetarians, meat eaters-- there is something for everyone!

Crafty Valentine's Party
When it comes to Valentine's Day, the crafting options are unlimited. Handmade cards, creative Valentine's boxes for school, cute 'love' decorations for the home, and adorable confections that are 'almost' too pretty to eat. There are so many fun things to make for Valentine's-- it's hard to fit it all in on February 14th! So this year, I decided to host a "Valentine's Crafty Party" for my girls. I invited over a few of their friends, stocked up on red paper hearts, yummy treats and then the fun began...
