VBS Crafting

We spent this week at Vacation Bible School. Are your kids going to VBS this summer?

We 'jazzed up' the VBS tanks by cutting off the sleeves and using strips of the cut sleeves to tie the tops.
Then we added glitter fabric paint to the letters :)
Our church did a 'western theme'. I was the guide for 16 kiddos (including my daughter) who will be going into second grade. They were super sweet and so enthusiastic. My girls and I had a blast spending time with old friends and making new ones.

Craft It: Tie Dye for Kids (the easy way)

I grew up making 'tie-dye' shirts at Vacation Bible School. I loved them. Messy, imperfect, and very 'summery'. Since then, I haven't attempted tie dye again because it seemed 'too messy and imperfect'. But then I received a kit from Craft Project Ideas.com and I knew it was time to give tie-dye another shot.

The kit came with enough dye to make a whole bunch of shirts. I only had two white t-shirts, but I wish I had stocked up and made tank tops, shorts, and pillowcases too. So if you try it, make sure to have a lot of items on hand, you will want to dye everything!

Crafty How-To: Fabric Flower Headband with Butterfly

Disclosure: The post is sponsored by The Blueprint Social and Plaid Crafts. Opinions and project ideas are my own.

A few weeks ago I got to try out a new product from Mod Podge called "Mod Melts". I used it to embellish this super sweet flower. What could be better? Hair accessories and my very favorite crafting tool-- the glue gun! Keep reading to see how you can make your own "Mod Melts" embellished fabric flowers too.

Mod Melts and Molds are super easy to use. Just put the melts in your hot glue gun and fill the mold. The mold I was given to try had sweet butterflies, birds, owls, and nests. There are other mold options, you can find them exclusively at Michaels stores by late June. I think the shapes of my molds would be perfect for making presents and crafts for weddings, baby showers, or girly gifts.

The Scoop #71 with "Little Yellow Barn"

Ah, summertime! We have been enjoying almost every day poolside, just playing with our littles. We're enjoying it so much that we've decided to take the summer off and simply enjoy the time we have with our kiddo's. Yes, that means that at the end of June, both Crafty Texas Girls and Lolly Jane will no longer be part of The Scoop BUT rest assured, the party will go on without us. Just check with our ah-mazing co-hosts each Tuesday to link up.

Summer Tank Giveaway from Skip N' Whistle

It's hot here. If you live in the south, you know what I mean :)

Disclosure: I received a tank top from Skip N' Whistle to review. All opinions are my own.
Luckily, there are some super cute ways to stay cool and still look good. I recently partnered with "Skip N' Whistle"- a feel-good, lifestyle brand based out of New Orleans, LA.

Connect with Skip N' Whistle on FacebookInstagram | Pinterest | Tumblr

Did you know I used to live right outside New Orleans? It's where my oldest daughter was born, so the fact that this company is in New Orleans and they make super cool designs--- well, we're a pretty good match :)

Craft It: Sit Upon using a Vinyl Tablecloth

Summer crafting in my house means involving the kiddos. With the warm weather here, we are outdoors at lot. My girls love sitting in the grass for picnics, playing games on the lawn, and enjoying a popsicle on the front yard. With all of that time in the grass, my girls needed somewhere comfy to sit.

So we revived an old craft from my days as a Girl Scout and decided to make 'sit upons'!

Kids Craft: Theodora Hat inspired by "Oz the Great and Powerful"

This a sponsored post. I was compensated for my time. All opinions and craft ideas are my own!

Let's take an adventure to OZ!

I was recently chosen to review the movie "Oz the Great & Powerful". After watching the movie with my daughters (four times, because they loved it!) I was inspired to create something that would bring a little of the magic of OZ into our life.

Summer is Here: 11 Days of Crafting

My daughter literally ran out of school on the last day,
and I am not sure who was more excited-- her or me!
I love summer.
I love grilling out and letting the girls stay up late.
I love swimming all day and making s'mores at night. I love it all.

So to celebrate my favorite season,
I have teamed up with 10 other creative bloggers to bring you the best in summer projects.

Painted Patio Furniture

The last piece of our patio 'make-over' was to spruce up the furniture.

I like our furniture and I didn't see anything on the market that I liked any better (for a reasonable price)-- so I decided it would be best to just to paint it. We invested in a paint sprayer. Which basically turns canned paint into spray paint. It makes painting really fun! Our wooden furniture usually needs a new coat each spring anyways, but this time we decided to opt for a slate gray instead of the traditional white.

Outdoor Fireplace Make-Over

Our backyard 'to-do' list is pretty much all checked off. Now comes the fun part, sharing the details with you!

One thing that I love about our backyard is this outdoor fireplace. It is perfect for s'mores in the summer and in the winter, I love to wrap up in blanket and bask in the warmth it produces. The fireplace is from the previous owner, it was one of the things we liked about the house when we bought it. At one point, we painted it black.

Making Home Base
Hi new friends! I'm Chelsea.
I'm so excited that these sweet ladies asked me to guest co-host this fantastic party!
I blog over at Making Home Base, my little space where I share a bit of everything from crafts and home decor to recipes and even a glimpse of my military life. As a military family living in base housing, decorating can be a challenge. My blog started because I was on a mission to make my bland base house and home base for my family.
