Glitter Christmas Sign DIY

Once I decided to go with the 'metallics' for my Christmas mantle this year, I just had to make a new "Be Good For Goodness Sake" sign.

Like the red "Be Good" sign I made before Thanksgiving, this sign was also cheap/free to make.

See how I made this DIY Christmas Sign.
I found an old canvas that I wasn't loving. I had painted the front of it at one of those 'paint and sip' classes. Have you done one of those? They are fun, but they kind of drive me crazy because you have to paint what 'they' say! We all had to paint a peacock. Really--a peacock?!! Not good. It was SO ugly I painted over it the minute I got home. (I don't do 'ugly'. )

The sad remnants of a peacock from Paint & Sip.
I removed the canvas from the frame, then turned the canvas around and used the back. That way I had a neutral background and a cool natural wood frame.

I used my Silhouette and the Double Sided Adhesive Cardstock for the letters. The front and the back of the paper are adhesive. So after the letters were cut, I placed them on the canvas. The Double Sided Adhesive looks almost like 'double sided sticky tape' once you cut it. (Look closely at the picture below.) I set the letters and painted on the glitter. Since the letters are sticky, the dry glitter easily adheres. Just brush on and dust off. Be prepared to vacuum :)

OMG. It is the finest, most sparkly glitter. Well done Silhouette, well done.

This is pretty much Glitter Heaven. Glitter. Lots of glitter.
I 'sealed' the entire project with a matte decoupage. Then I hot glued it back inside the 'canvas frame'.

Let me tell you, the sign is a good reminder for my girls. And ME too!

Needing ideas for Christmas crafts? Stay tuned, here in North Texas we have had a wicked ice storm. Since we have been home-bound with no school, I have been crafting like a mad woman! More projects to 'pin and do' will be shared later this weekend.

Do you need a reminder to 'be good'??? Then make this sign! Or just pin it and make it later :)

I am sharing this craft project as part of the "All Things Home" Craft Tour. Be sure to click on over to the other blogs sharing their Christmas Crafts this week.
