Let's look back for a moment at the five previous years of color from Pantone...
2008- Iris
2009- Mimosa
2010-Turquoise
2011- Honeysuckle
And recently Pantone made the announcement that "the color of 2012" is Tangerine Tango! Part of me is not surprised, this beautiful orange color seems to be popping up everywhere. Pantone describes its pick for 2012 as a "spirited reddish orange that will continue to provide the energy boost we need to recharge and move forward."
Watch for this spunky color to show up in your closet- it has been featured in the Spring/Summer 2012 lines of designers such as Tommy Hilfiger, Nanette Lepore, and Elie Tahari. And it's likely to stay around through the fall season. Pantone predicts, "A fun, lively take on a traditional autumnal hue, Tangerine Tango will surely carry through to fall fashion as well."
Try to incorporate a bit of Tangerine Tango in your make-up-- the coral hints in this color are perfect for spring's warm weather. I love 'orange' as an eye shadow, lipstick or even on the nails.
Finally, I am most excited to bring a bit of the new 'it color' into my home. I love it in a pattern or as an unexpected pop color.
And since I have accents of turquoise in my house already, look how beautiful the orange and blue look when they are paired together.
What do you think about Pantone's color of the year? Are you feeling the 'orange crush'?
I think they were definitely on point the last 3 years. I guess I missed the boat on the other years. :) Love tangerine. Love those curtains w/ the blue lines. All of it actually. :)
ReplyDeleteI agree too! And although it is a 2010 color- I just can't get over my love of turquoise.
ReplyDeleteLove this post, I love orange tones, and have been trying for the past few months to incorporate into my "green kitchen" and my "blue bedroom" as my pop color. Who knew I was ahead of the trend, HA HA :)
ReplyDeleteNow following you on Pinterest, I am a newbie there, but quickly becoming obsessed!
Love this post & I love this colour. Can't wait to start incorporating it into my life. I must have been a bit ahead of the game since I have already bought a few tangerine pieces for my wardrobe =)
