The "New Color" for 2011

Wondering what is in store for fashion and home decor this year??  Well, the people in the know at Pantone have picked the new "it color" for 2011.

Drum roll please.... the new color is Honeysuckle! Which to you and me- means pink :)

Pantone describes Honeysuckle as "A Color for All Seasons"

"Courageous. Confident. Vital. A brave new color, for a brave new world. Let the bold spirit of Honeysuckle infuse you, lift you and carry you through the year. It’s a color for every day – with nothing “everyday” about it."

I think that's a pretty accurate description of pink:)

Here are some pairings that go well with Honeysuckle, courtesy of Elements of Style.

Last year Pantone chose "Turquoise" as the color of 2010. And I have about 4 pops of that color in my house.  Luckily they are all accent pillows- so when the time comes- it will be easy to change them out. Although I am quite happy with my turquoise at the moment- even if it "sooo 2010"- ha!

Most people are not going to paint their family room walls pink. (If you do- email me a pic!!!)

Found here.
But a bit of color could be added with flowers, accent pillows, or a few accessories.

Will Honeysuckle make it into your home this year? And does all the pink in my daughters' rooms count?!

  1. Oh that's just fabulous!!...I've spent the last two days getting rid of any signs of 'pink' or hello kitty as the nester calls it, in our master bedroom. :) Seriously!?! No really though, it had to go and I'll post the pics when I'm done. Love the pics w/ the pink decor...so cute.

  2. I had actually thought it would be orange. You are right- pink can be a bit "hello kitty" when overdone. Wouldn't it be fun to be the person who gets to pick the 'it color'?
