One of the main reasons I bought the domain was to prevent confusion. If another person chose the name 'crafty texas girls' and started a website, some of my blog readers and customers might have trouble finding me. So by purchasing my domain, I now 'own' the rights to that domain. Also I think it makes me sound more legit- ha!
If you are on Blogger and wanting to make the change to a ".com" as well, here is how. There are lots of companies that provide the service, like Go Daddy, Domain.Com etc. But since Blogger offers the service for only $10- I decided to do it the easy way.
First, go to Blogger and get started...
Next, click on the Settings tab
Finally, click here
The service is $10 for one year. And you can sign up to automatically re-new it each year too. Like I said, all traffic is supposed to be forwarded from your previous address to your new domain. But make sure you update everyone with your new address.
Have you purchased your own domain? Any advice or tips to share?

ReplyDeleteHi there! I found your blog through another one (Playing Sublimely) and just love it! It was such a good idea to buy your domain name and we did the same thing when we started ours. I'm off to go through some of your other posts and get to "know" you better! :-)
