Pretty in Pink: Shabby Chic Bedroom

After we moved Maisy from crib to bed and transformed her room with some new bedding and thrifted furniture-- my big girl asked for me to 'fix up' her room too. Her bedroom furniture and bedding were beautiful, but she wanted the room to look a little more grown up. So I added new curtains, changed the art, and switched out the accessories.

The curtains are from Overstock.com, the same ones that are in Maisy's room.

I used the embroidery hoops that I found this summer on "National Thrifting Day" and added some fabric that coordinated with the room.

Her sweet bedding is from the Simply Shabby Chic line by Rachel Ashwell for Target. We bought it when she was three and it has held up so well. I can throw it all in the wash!  I love the accent pillow "Sweet Dreams"- it looks handmade with the embroidery and pom pom fringe.

And as 'grown-up' as she pretends to be, she still loves playing Barbies :) This is the doll house Santa brought her a few years ago. Above it hangs a beautiful princess painting that my friend Jennifer made her.

To give her room a 'fixed up' feel, I also added some new accessories. Black and white photos in silver frames that we found thrifting and some ivory hydrangeas. I think her room looks its best when we keep the clutter off her dresser and night table. She has so many 'treasures', trophies, sticker books, dolls etc. Before she goes to bed at night we take the time to return all those items to their proper place. Her closet has a nice big built-in shelf which is a good spot for all those things that we have to keep, but don't really want displayed all the time.

The frame above her bed is actually from an old mirror. The mirror was broken, so I carefully popped out the glass and painted the frame. I'm kind of a fan of empty frames- especially pretty ones (remember Christmas and my dresser downstairs?).

The girls' rooms share a jack-n-jill bathroom.

And even though Maisy's room is blue--they both go together nicely.

Such a great time to be a girl! Which do you prefer, pink or blue?
