Crafty How To: Fall Turkeys

Like everyone else, I can't believe Thanksgiving is almost here.  And luckily we have had enough cool-ish days to make it feel like fall. The trees in North Texas are finally changing and the streets are now dusted with red, yellow, and orange leaves. We took our girls on a 'hunt' to gather some of the newly fallen leaves. Our bags also ended up with handfuls of acorns, pinecones and sticks as well.

When we got home, Afton and Maisy decided to sort our treasures.

And then it was time to get crafty. Since I only have one turkey decoration, we thought our fall pickings would be perfect for creating some Thanksgiving decor. With a bit of hot glue, the items from our nature walk were transformed into feathered friends.

Afton directed and I manned the glue gun. Then she used a sharpie to create little turkey faces. I love how they turned out. The natural color of the fall leaves is beautiful.

I added the new turkeys to our hallway table. I also included a printable that I found on pinterest.

The dining table has stayed pretty much the same since Halloween. That $5 bag of pumpkins from Tom Thumb was worth it!

In the kitchen I traded out my Halloween subway art for this Thanksgiving one. Those burlap mats make the printable look a bit more 'luxe' :)

Have you been out collecting leaves yet? Do you have any handmade turkeys in your home this year?
