Handmade Baby Shower Gift: Bow Tie Onesie with Suspenders

Seems like everyone I know right now is expecting a baby.
Well not everyone... but you know how sometimes it seems like everyone around you is pregnant or has a baby? That is where I am:) Which means I get to make cute baby gifts! And even though I am 'all about the girls'-- I found something sweet to make for little guys too!

Using a Gerber onesie, I made a little bowtie and suspenders from some of my favorite fabrics. I stitched them on, making sure to turn under all the raw edges. Then I added some of the same fabric to a burp cloth, turning under the raw edges again. Finally, I used a pattern similar to this one, to make a 'diaper/wipes' holder or one like this. It's a cute way to keep diapers and wipes organized in your bag.

**This idea could easily be done in girl version, choosing different colored fabrics and attaching the bow to the side (like a little brooch!).

And here is the onesie on the cutest little baby boy-- don't you just love him?! His mom sent me this photo several months after the shower. I was delighted!!!

Real Parties: PINK & GOLD {Baby Shower}

My 'baby' sister Becka is having a baby! So to celebrate, we hosted a beautiful girly PINK&GOLD shower.
The party theme really started with this invitation. Like me, Becka loves Chevron :) I found this beautiful invite at "Print Your Heart Out" on Etsy. Laura, the shop owner, was wonderful to work with! She helped me customize the invite and even designed party circles, a banner, and mini flags to coordinate with the invite. I loved how easy it was to print the paper-goods from home.

Invite found at Print Your Heart Out
With PINK&GOLD on my mind, I scoured the web for inspiration. And when I saw this shower over at "Savinest" via "OntoBaby"- I knew I wanted to create something similar. There is just something so glam and feminine about this color combination.

No Time for Crafting

Things have been a little different for us this week. My sweet mom has been in the hospital since Monday morning with a bad infection resulting from a surgery she had 3 weeks ago. It has been really scary to say the least. But it looks like the doctors have found the right course of treatment and she is improving. Fingers crossed and lots of prayers that she continues to recover and is discharged sometime this weekend.

Drawing Afton made of "Grammy" in the hospital. Notice Grammy is still smiling, despite her IV.
Artwork the girls made to cheer up the room. The swirly bottom left one is by Maisy- she calls it "Chicken Pox"

I have been spending as much time as I can with my mom. Luckily we have family close by to help watch the girls.

And on a happy note, my sister Amanda is in town with my new nephew. (He's the one we threw the "Little Man" baby shower for a few months ago.) I just love him! Can you tell my girls adore having this little guy around?

And on another happy, happy note, look what my sister Becka sent out in the mail. Eeeeek! One more new baby will be joining our family soon--I am so excited for Becka and Josh! Isn't that the cutest 'baby on the way' announcement you've ever seen?

So, no time for crafting this week. But sometimes that's how it goes. Now I'm off to the hospital to visit my momma! Have a good weekend.

"Sweet as Pie" Baby Sprinkle

Is there anything more fun than welcoming a new baby? And in our family, we have lots of babies on the way! Two weeks ago, we hosted a Little Man shower to celebrate the upcoming arrival for my sister's baby boy. And then last weekend, we opened our home for a little 'sprinkle' to honor my sister-in-law Jenn as she is expecting her second daughter.

A sprinkle is a sweet way to celebrate a second or third baby. It is a smaller version of a 'shower'-- it's just a little 'sprinkle'! And this sprinkle was especially sweet because I co-hosted it with my creative sister-in-law Jessie. Jessie is a certified foodie--this girl can cook! And happily, she shares my love of Pinterest and party planning :)  Jessie was truly the hostess with the mostess for this event!

I embellished a simple Gerber onesie with silk flowers and lace, then added a handmade tutu for door decor. A white parasol and 'rain drops' hung just above the entry way.

The party theme came from these adorable party favors that Jessie baked. "This baby will be sweet as pie". Each mini-mason jar contained a delicious mixed berry pie.

Pretty drinks...sparkling pink lemonade and pink champagne.

The menu consisted of Pizzettes with Caramelized Onions, Goat Cheese, and Prosciutto; Cucumber Cups with Roasted Red Pepper Hummus; and Pear & Brie Sandwiches with Walnuts and Arugula.

And lots of sweets too! Macaroons, powdered donuts with edible hydrangeas, and dark chocolate cupcakes.

The centerpiece of the table was a beautiful 4-tiered pastel layered cake, baked by my talented mother-in-law Debbie.

I hung the infamous 'coffee filter' wreath back up on the fireplace. Coordinating paper bunting and personalized onesies adorned the mantle.

Jenn was so thrilled with the shower. And we are so excited to welcome another sweet girl to the family. Jessie-I loved hosting the sprinkle with you!!

Jessie, Debbie, Jenn along with 'big sister to be' Analeigh and 'proud cousin' Afton :)

-Special Thanks to "Hostess with the Mostess" , her "Spring Baby Shower" is full of fabulous ideas.
-All the paper elements of this party are available at Paige's of Style on Etsy.
-The 'raindrop's are actually plastic Christmas ornaments! You can find similar ones here.
-When making the cake, don't forget to gently cut of the sides of the baked cake to reveal the color.

Little Man Baby Shower

My sweet sister Amanda is having her first child next month. So to celebrate, we planned a "Little Man" baby shower.
My mom, sister, and Amanda's close friend Janie and I all worked together on this party. Lots of crafty and foodie helpers!

Guests were greeted at the door with a choice of bow-ties to wear.

Handmade 'tie' garland with the words "Hello Little Man" was strung across the table. It was a fun twist on traditional bunting.

The party was held at 2pm, so the menu was light and festive. Bow-tie pasta salad, bow tie 'tuxedo' strawberries, cupcakes, fruit salad, pita chips and humus. I made bow-tie short bread cookies too.

Tucked among the mustache 'adorned' food were a series of "Bro-Tips". Things that every little man needs to know in life. One of my favorites was "Your jeans should never be tighter than your girlfriend's." Ha!

Guests snacked, talked and took turns in our homemade photo booth. A variety of mustaches cut from black felt and attached to sticks. We used an old frame for the 'booth'. It was quite a hit!

A ribbon clothesline, complete with "Little Man" outfits hung across the room. A cute decor idea that doubles as a gift.

Guests were asked to fill out "Wishes for Baby"- these are such sweet keepsakes for the baby book. You can find the printable form here.

It was such a great, happy shower.

And Amanda received so many lovely gifts and was so touched by everyone who came to support her. Since the birth of my girls, she has been my own personal "Mary Poppins"- practically perfect in every way. I have appreciated the love and care she has always shown my girls. I can't wait to meet her little Wyatt.  I know she and Preston will be amazing parents.
