Bathroom Remodel {How to Save $$}

This post was sponsored by Decor Planet.com. All opinions are my own.

When we began our bathroom remodel, my husband and I searched all over the internet for bathroom fixtures, a tub, and a mirror. If you have ever built your own home or remodeled a bathroom, you know most of the work comes before any tile is set down. It's the searching and price comparison that takes so much time.

I recently discovered Decor Planet.com--I wish I had known about this site a few months ago! They have competitive pricing, free shipping, 110% price match guarantee, hasel free returns... bascially they offer affordable luxury for your home.

Master Bath Remodel: Progress Pictures

A remodel can seem to stretch on forever. Ours is almost done, but I completely under-estimated how long it would take to pull all the details together. I thought today I would show you some 'iPhone pics' of the progress.

The demo/tile work took about 2.5 weeks. After that waited 10 more days for the glass to be installed. And then we decided the entire bathroom needs to repainted (See here). (The current color is too brown now. I am wanting a cooler grey. ) Remodeling is like giving a mouse a cookie. One thing just leads to another.

In the meantime, we have hung the chandelier, bought rugs and accessories and of course-- enjoyed the tub.

I do have to admit- it's much easier to clean a pretty bathroom ;) We ran the tile into the closet. It feels glamorous!

And how about our door from Old Home Supply?! (See here) Hanging it wasn't as simple as it looks online. But my Jeff did it!

The painting starts Monday! And then I have a few things to hang on the wall. And then it's done!

PS- new molding in the laundry room must taste like steak... don't chew the wood Coco! #toolate

Decorating with Fresh Flowers

I have a thing for decor that feels 'glamorous'. I mean I live in the suburbs and I am a mom, but that doesn't make my life any less glamorous than those ladies that live in a big city, right?! Case in point, fresh flowers. Fresh flowers can add glamour to any room-- in any house. I have always read that you should buy yourself fresh flowers each week. And oh do I love that idea.

I usually get fresh cut flowers from my husband on my birthday, Valentines, Mother's Day and our anniversary. Sometimes even 'just because'. They make me feel like a million bucks. So if you don't have fresh flowers in your home right now, maybe these images will inspire you to go buy a bunch or two right away. My friends over at Fresh Flowers have a beautiful assortment too.

And just because I adore a 'little drama' in my decor... these rooms, with these flowers.

Now let's all go buy some flowers for our homes- we deserve it!

DIY Towel Rack (for the Pool)

A sure sign of summer in my house is a big pile of pool towels. They seem to be draped over all the patio furniture and inevitably my laundry room. While there is no escaping a little 'extra laundry' over the summer, I did find a solution to the patio problem.

A few months ago when Jeff was making our Chevron Pallet Coffee Table, he had an extra piece of wood. A really good extra piece of wood. It was stamped with 'Mother Parkers Tea & Coffee'. He asked if I wanted to keep it and that's when an idea popped into my head. Why not add some industrial screws and turn it into a Pool Towel Hanger?!

So my hubby drilled four holes into the wood, added 'liquid nails' and then screwed in the screws :)

For more info on using DIY tools, click here.

Pool towels all over the patio? Noooooo!!!
After drying for 24 hours, we hung it on the fence by the pool equipment.

Now the towels have a place to hang, a place to dry, and a place to wait until I am ready to wash them.

Summer is good!

PS. If you are wondering, I just hit 2 weeks with my Jamberry Nails! They still haven't come off! So to celebrate, I am hosting a fun giveaway. Who doesn't love pretty nails for summer?!

{Tropical} Vacation Bible School

Such a fun week around our here. The girls had VBS at our church and I volunteered to help with ... Crafts!!! (Are you surprised?!)

This year's VBS theme was very 'tropical'. "Looking for treasure, I found Jesus".

Don't you love this arch-- made from beach balls!

The decorations were beach balls, inflatables, all things 'Hawaiian' and 'under the sea'...

I loved the pineapple centerpieces on the snack tables and all the cute themed healthy treats.

I didn't get a chance to take photos of all the snacks because I was busy in the craft room. But I got one of this 'banana dolphin'. Other snacks this week were a palm tree made of green apple slices, pretzel rods, and chocolate covered raisins for coconuts. There was also popcorn with jelly beans-- the kids had to 'dig' through their popcorn bowls to find the 'jelly bean treasures'. And the last day was 'cold smores'-- graham crackers, chocolate and marshmallows (no fire!) .

Along with some super teen helpers, my partner and I helped the 500 kids make 'cross' leis to remind them of 'discovering the treasure of Jesus love'.

Let me tell you, it was kind of crazy, making the same craft for 4 days in a row, for a total of 12 hours. But I loved it! I saw kids from Kindergarten up to 4th grade.

Some made patterns. Some didn't.

Some used flowers. Some didn't.

Some were messy. Some were ... slightly less messy :)

But they were all delightful. Working with kids reminds you, everyone needs someone to show them kindness and share a smile. Every one.

There were a total of four crafts that the kids completed this week. I only taught the 'lei' class. But I peeked in on the other craft rooms. There was 'painting a treasure chest'. It was filled with fun goodies.

Another craft was gluing shells to a cross.

And the last craft was decorating a hat with sharpies and then adding a few drops of alcohol to create a tie-die look. This one turned out cute, but the fumes were strong. It needs to be done outside or in a well ventilated area. (See more about this craft by clicking here)

Beyond the crafts, the kids rotated each day through music, outdoor games, snack, missions, stories, and chapel. I can't say enough good things about Vacation Bible School. It is an amazing opportunity for kids to learn about faith and fun. For adults, it's the opportunity to be 'the hands and feet of Jesus'.

Will you or your kids participate in VBS this summer?
