Better Homes and Gardens: Me??

When BHG Emails...
Early this summer ago I received an email from Better Homes and Gardens. They had seen my fall mantle from last year on a link party hosted by The Lettered Cottage and they wanted permission to use the photos on their website. It took me all of about 3 seconds to say "YES!". I filled out some paperwork which released my photos to BHG.com and gave them the go-ahead to use the photos on their site. I also provided information about my mantle and tips for creating a similar look.

Click here to see my mantle and lots of other great ideas too!
A few months went by and I almost forgot all about the email. But I was browsing around their site and found a new slideshow created with ideas for fall mantle decor. You can imagine my excitement when I saw mine-- right there in the same article with lots of 'big bloggers' and professional decor gurus.

"You Never Know"
I am not sharing this story because I wanted to brag that now I am going to be rich and famous from having one photo on BHG.com. (Although completely unlikely, wouldn't that be great?!) No, no. Instead I am sharing this story because it just goes to show that 'you never know'.
-When I started blogging, I considered myself 'decor-challenged'
-In the beginning, my blog was to simply showcase my hair accessories. I felt my home was something I wasn't qualified to decorate.
-But little by little, I tried.
-I asked for help from friends, I looked online, I read magazines, and I tried.
-To this day, I know that my home is not professionally decorated.
-But now I can say I decorated it.
-And I am proud of how it looks and that I did it
-I love that my house feels like a home because I stepped outside of my comfort zone.
-So you never know.
-You never know when you start out on a journey where you will end up
-Whether it is BHG.com or in a new city, or finding a new job, or starting a new relationship, or taking a new class, or simply discovering something new about yourself
-You Never Know!
