11 Unique Spring Wreaths

After several ice/snow days, the weather in North Texas has turned. The past few days have been absolutely GOR.GEOUS. We have been outside soaking in the sunshine at the park, riding bikes, running, and walking the dogs. All this outside time has me totally ready for Spring!

I know that it's not here yet for most of the country (and we will probably have some more wacky cold weather in Texas). But Spring is close enough that we can at least make (or buy via Etsy!) our Spring Wreaths now. A little preparation never hurt anyone right?!

1. DIY Monogram Wreath

2. Woodland Wreath

6. Boxwood Monogram Door Wreath (doesn't this remind you of the garland one I made at Christmas?? See it here for the tutorial

Which is your favorite? Are you seeing signs of Spring in your area yet?

Crafty How To: Easter Mantle with Chevron Wreath

Before blogging, I never changed out my mantle. Well maybe except for Christmas. Other than that I kept it the same because it was easier. I was afraid if I moved things around for a holiday like Easter then I wouldn't remember where everything was 'supposed to go' when the holiday was over. And then I would have try to decorate again and maybe it wouldn't look good.

But you know what, there really is no place that everything is 'supposed to go'. And it's just a mantle! So rearrange, switch things up, and try something new. There is so much beautiful holiday decor inspiration to be found on Pinterest. Take a chance, you might be surprised at what you can do with the items in your own home.

Happy Thanksgiving!

I hope you all had a wonderful day yesterday. We all have so much to be thankful for.

We celebrated with family out in Aledo. The weather was gorgeous- 70 degree weather in November! Jeff fried a turkey and the kids played, fished, and ate way too many cookies:)

I am not a 'black friday shopper'. But I did order a few things online last night. I found a 'Barney the dinosaur' for Maisy and a vintage pink elephant Care Bear Cousin for Afton.

I also found a cool handmade 'red riding hood' cape for Afton. I love to buy handmade!

Today I am working on the Christmas decorations. I have few new ideas in mind but I want to go through my boxes and see what I have. Last year I did primarily white and burlap. But I am feeling a bit more 'green' this year. Here are few images I am using for inspiration- all photos from bhg.com.

Have a great weekend!

Happy Crafting

Guess how much burlap is on this roll....

Yep, 120 yards. That's 72 pounds worth of burlap.

Why in the world did I have that much burlap? To make 60 wreaths of course!

This year I am serving as the "Creative Chair" for my MOPS group. So for our first craft of the year, I planned for us to make burlap wreaths. The supplies were easy enough, 2 yards per person and one wire hanger. I pre-cut the burlap into 2 yard bundles and the ladies did the rest!

And despite the messiness, it was a lot of fun. Everyone worked at their own pace, helped each other, and chatted. Sixty crafty moms all left with a fabulous wreath for their home.

In addition to our craft, I shared a few pointers about Fall Decor. So in case you aren't in my MOPS group, here are some tips and trends for 'Feathering Your Nest' for autumn.

Mantles:
-Look for natural elements. Try incorporating acorns, wheat, burlap and pumpkins.
-Fall Colors: Mix brown, tan, orange and pop of something bright.
-Shop Your Home: Use candlesticks, frames, mirrors, and glass containers you already have.

Craft a Pumpkin:
-Make it fancy! Add paint: white, gold, silver, glitter.
-Mod Podge. Use fabric or scrapbook paper.
-Bedazzle: Jewels, ribbon, yarn.

Wreaths:
-Use burlap, rosettes, yarn, or even corn husks. Get creative, anything goes with a wreath!
