Grandpa Rocks (Retirement Party)

My Dad recently retired. He has worked hard his entire life, so I am thrilled he gets to relax and enjoy life on his own schedule now. To celebrate this career, we had a little family party at my house. And since I can't do a party without a theme... I decided to call this the "Grandpa Rocks" Retirement Party!

I made signs using PicMonkey, printed them at home and mounted them on red card stock.

We ate, swam and played outside.

And since all parties need a craft, we made "Grandpa Rocks" rocks. The girls each painted a rock for Grandpa's garden. I thought hand painted rocks from the kiddos would be a cool addition to his garden and great memory of the party.  (Once the paint dried, I sealed the paint with Mod Podge before delivering them to Grandpa's house. )

Of course some of the kids (my own!) got a little crazy with paint!

After dinner, we sang "Happy Retirement to You" (to the tune of Happy Birthday) and had some cookie cake.

Grandpa got a few nice retirement gifts, including this awesome t-shirt quilt that my step-mom made him.

It was a fun night and I am glad that we got to spoil my Dad a little. Happy Retirement! Grandpa does Rock!
