Here is what you need to make your own:
-Tote bag (I like the ones at Hobby Lobby)
-Iron-On Letters (Optional)
To begin, I 'googled' our state to find a good template. I saved the image to my desktop and then pasted it in a word document so I could adjust the size before printing. Once it is printed, cut out the state and trace it on a piece of fabric.
Then cut out the fabric. Use a sewing machine to attach it to the bag.
I sewed 'inside' the state so the edges of the fabric can fray a bit overtime. Then I sewed on a heart over our town with this sparkle fabric.
Finally, I used some left-over letters from my "Hashtag Bag" projects to add the word 'HOME'. And voila! The perfect tote for summer reading.
Maisy's bag was a bit smaller, so I just omitted the lettering.
This idea would be cute on t-shirt or dress. If I was doing this on apparel, I would use interfacing (see this tutorial) so it will hold up through wash and wear.
Today marks the first week of our official 'summer' break. We have some fun things planned like swim team, VBS, and camp. But mostly, I am excited to just relax with my kids! Have a great week ;)
