There is something about the upcoming holiday season that makes me want to get our house 'spruced' up. (I actually think it started with that new painting in my sitting area.) But it is also because I know we will be hosting family and friends in our home soon. And I want everything to look its best :)

So I have a list of things that I am hoping to get done. And you know what they say about goals- you are more likely to complete them if you share them publicly. That way people will hold you accountable. I am hoping you will be my people! (Who knows, my list just might inspire you to make your own!)

So here goes:

First, I am wanting to put bamboo shades in my kitchen/sitting area. Previously, there were wooden blinds here. But they were from the original owners, so they were old and a bit wonky. Jeff pulled them down last weekend and now I am hunting for just the right bamboo shades to take their place. I like the look of these.

Second, I am looking for a new pair of accent chairs for the sitting area. The floral chairs have become faded and worn. My choices are either are to recover them (which typically runs $350 per chair for labor, plus the cost of fabric) or to find a new pair to replace them with. I am loving these styles. I want something with exposed wood and fabric-- although the fabric will need to be dark. I don't think white/cream would last five minutes in my house.

Finally, our upstairs is in desperate need of new carpet. The carpet was done by the original owners. And since we have been here for over 7 years, with multiple pets.... it's about time it was replaced! I like the look of these carpets.

I don't know if I can get it all done by Christmas. Budget and time will definitely have to be considered. But the planning and shopping for shades, chairs, and carpet is fun and makes my 'home decor' heart happy :)
