I have been busy making some adorable new headbands- and I even have the hot glue gun burns to prove it. Some of these are for my favorite Southlake boutique, Ella Bella. Others were created for sweet customers.
Which one is your favorite?

Paint It Black
Any Rolling Stones fans out there?
"I see a red door and I want it painted black
No colors anymore I want them to turn black"
"I wanna see it painted black, painted black
Black as night, black as coal
I wanna see the sun, blotted out from the sky
I wanna see it painted, painted, painted, painted black "
I love to run to this song... and now I am ready to use it for decor inspiration! After several years with a red door, I am ready to paint our front door black.
Glossy black...
Or maybe flat black.
Think how good it will look at Halloween.
Or any time of year really...
And while I have the black paint out, maybe I'll do an interior door too!
So next time you come to my house, expect my door and maybe me to look like this :)
Do you have a black door? What is your favorite- the flat or glossy?

Stumped
Maybe it started with "The Giving Tree"...
For more details check out these great tutorials:
Do you have any stumps in your home?
"I don't need very much now, " said the boy,
"just a quiet place to site and rest.
I am very tired."
"Well," said the tree,
straightening herself up
as much as she could,
"well, an old stump is good
for sitting and resting."
Come, Boy, sit down.
Sit down and rest."
And the boy did.
Or maybe it is our desire to bring a bit of nature into our homes...
But either way, I am loving tree stumps. You can use them as furniture, decor, even in the kitchen!
Tree Stump Coffee Tables
Tree Stump Side Tables
Tree Stump Chairs
Tree Stump Platters/Pedestals
Tree Stump Dining Tables
So how does one get a stump? Well 'rev' up your chainsaw and head to the forest! Or according to "The Art of Doing Stuff" seek out someone who sells firewood. And then, request a stump.

Next, allow your stump to dry out for at least one month.

Now it's time to remove the bark. Seems oak bark is easier to remove than walnut, but either way, be prepared to use a prybar and a hammer.

Then sand down your stump so it is smooth to the touch.

Finally apply the stain.

You can also add these cool legs- from Ikea.

And there you have it- a tree stump table. Beautiful. Straight from the outdoors into your home.
