Pretty in Pink: Shabby Chic Bedroom

After we moved Maisy from crib to bed and transformed her room with some new bedding and thrifted furniture-- my big girl asked for me to 'fix up' her room too. Her bedroom furniture and bedding were beautiful, but she wanted the room to look a little more grown up. So I added new curtains, changed the art, and switched out the accessories.

Disney World: Tips and Photos from our Vacation

We had the best time at Disney World! Have you ever been?

We planned our vacation for February because the last time we went, the parks were empty and the weather was great. This time, there were a lot more people there, but the weather was amazing. For most of the trip, we had sunshine and warm temps.

Home Updates: Easy Ideas for a Fresh Look

Now is the perfect time to re-evaluate home decor. With all the holiday 'stuff' (Christmas, New Years, Valentines) finally put away, you can look at your home with new eyes. See what is working, move things around, reorganize, and make a shopping list. Most of us are on a budget (yay for New Years resolutions right!?)- but even with limited funds, it is possible to update your home and give it a new feel for the new year.

Here are few things I have updated in my home this past month. Maybe it will inspire you!

Our guest host this week is Anne of White Lace Cottage

Hello I am Anne from White lace cottage and I am thrilled that Linsey asked me to host this weeks Cowgirl Up party!

It is such an honor as I adore her style too!

If you know me then you know how much I love anything old and chippy.

I am always on the hunt to find fun and unique pieces for my home.
My style is a little bit of Cottage, a little bit farmhouse and a little bit French Nordic.
All together you get Romantic farmhouse cottage French Nordic.

Yes it's a bit eclectic.

But somehow it all works.

I love using architectural pieces old shutters, doors, windows ladders anything that catches my eye.

Another thing I love to do is to re purpose old treasures.

If You Ever Get the Chance

If you ever get the chance, take a road trip to Louisiana around Mardi Gras.

When you get there, find out where the closest parade will be held. When you find out where the parade is, you might want to go visit the parade floats the night before it actually rolls.

Take a few small children with you, so you have an excuse to act like a child too. Then stay up late and eat lots of King Cake.

Craft It: A Pillow for Kids

An Unusual Love Story
We have no shortage of dolls and stuffed animals in this house. Yet for some reason, that has not stopped Maisy from becoming extremely attached to my decorative throw pillow. I bought this pillow at Target- I like the texture of the leather against the duck cloth, accented with  'nail head' embellishment.

But when Maisy looks at this pillow, she doesn't see any of that. She just sees her baby. And she packs this pillow all around the house. Sitting with it at the table, rocking it and even dancing with it.

Packing Our Bags- It's Disney Time

For Christmas this year, we tried to keep things a bit more simple gift-wise. Instead we wanted to spend our money on a family experience. We wanted to take the girls on a trip to remember. Where do you take two little girls who love princesses and everything Minnie Mouse???

Disney World of course! This will be our second trip to the 'happiest place on Earth' :) We made a trip to Disney World (you can see my post here) a few years ago when Afton was almost five. Maisy was just a baby so she stayed home with my mom.

Flashback Photo: Disney World 2011
Since then, we have been talking and talking about going again. When is the right age to go to Disney World? Will Maisy be big enough to ride and remember everything? Will Afton still love princesses when we go? How we cannot take Maisy now-- she is at the 'princesses are real!' stage!

See. I'm a southern girl through and through but I haven't always been a country girl.

Crafty How To: Salt Dough Valentines

Looking for Valentine Ideas?
You are in the right place! Keep reading to see a fun, easy Valentine craft for your kids-"Salt Dough Valentines"!  Don't forget to check the sidebar on my site for treats, wreaths, and more Valentine fun.
Click here for a complete list of projects created right here at Crafty Texas Girls.

Remember our Salt Dough recipe? Well Maisy is still obsessed. Salt Dough has become 'our thing'. Along with those tiny Disney princess dolls, Salt Dough is her favorite game. So, most days after we drop Afton at school and go to the gym, we end up just coming home and hanging around. Then my sweet Maisy will look up at me and say "Don't you want to play with me?" How can I say no?!
So more often than not, out comes the Salt Dough!

Since we are headed towards Valentines, I decided to break out the heart cookie cutters and give our Salt Dough game a festive twist. Maisy liked comparing the heart sizes. There is a 'daddy-size, a mommy-size, and a baby-size' in our set.

Craft It: Toddler Valentine-Handprint Suncatcher

With Valentines quickly approaching, I thought it would be fun to share some sweet ideas for crafting with kids. Today, my college roommate, sorority sister, and blogging buddy--Stephanie is here to share an adorable kid-friendly Valentine craft. Take it away Stephanie!

Hi! I'm Stephanie from Twodaloo and I am thrilled to be guest posting today at Crafty Texas Girls! Since my blog is all about play and learning with little ones, I thought I'd pick a super cute and crafty Valentine activity that would make a perfect gift for someone special in your child's life.

hearttitle2
Believe it or not, the inspiration for this activity came from one of my least favorite chores- cleaning windows. You see, I have twins that just turned two. And yes, twins are double the fun, and the hugs, and the giggles...and the fingerprints! Look closely at my windows, and my storm door, and my walls, and you'll see evidence galore. But someone recently pointed out to me that my time with my tots will go by all too fast, and one day I will look upon my clean house with sadness and wish for those smudges and smears all over again. So I decided to capture one of those handprints in a suncatcher, and here's how you can do it, too!
